The start of something new…
Posted: May 7, 2009 at 4:39 pmI’m starting on some new artwork inspired by lyrics from the PURE album, just created the background layers…seashore, windmill…casting net into the big wide sea etc, I reckon this piece may take a month or so to complete, will keep posting updates, any feedback welcome!!

Hi Graeme,
Again looking great. Where do you found all your source material, or do you create it from scratch?
If not, how many layers have you used to create this effect? Must be quite a few.
You do seem to have a very distinctive style, go with it.
Oh and the windmill…a reference to a certain Dutch adventure? I don’t know if you remember the Dutch guy in Ittervoort who told Scott he looked like a darts player? I met him the other week at the IQ gig in Zoetermeer, he was a bit still embarrassed about it
Any luck with my pictures?
Cheers,
Timo
Hi Timo,
Thanks!! There’s about 12 layers in this so far….black background with lens flare, used the smudge tool and warp tool to distort the flare. Then added a picture of the world from space and another picture of an eye – played with layer styles, hue and saturation, added the clouds and water (same as the t-shirt design) and again played around with colour. Found a couple of pictures of ships, cut them out and blended them – found a picture of a lighthouse (from Portland) with a nice craggy rock/beach, added a couple of fishermen and found an old windmill to replace the lighthouse! – a lot of resizing and cropping! The Windmill has the Dutch reference but also from the lyric in Comatose – he took the old round past the windmill towards the seashore – to cast his big net into the great wide sea!!
You’re photo’s are great and will hopefully get some use in the finished picture!!
